Facial exercises are often described as a natural way to “tighten” the face. That word is convenient, but anatomically imprecise. What systematic reviews say about the evidence
A 2014 systematic review found nine reports, but the studies were mainly case reports, small series or uncontrolled before-and-after designs with subjective assessments. Its conclusion was straightforward: the evidence was insufficient, and larger randomised controlled trials were needed. A separate 2013 control-group study involving 18 people could not conclude that four facial exercises were effective after seven weeks.
